2011 Teacher PD Sessions
Our Teacher Professional Development component for January 2011 involved two 2-day workshops. Teachers also attended the morning and evening student sessions for the days of their PD.
Our Teacher Professional Development Workshops for July 2011 sadly had to be cancelled due the severe snow storm that hit Dunedin the week of 23-30th July.
See time table below for programme we had planned to offer.
We hope to present a very similar programme in our two 2012 Teacher Professional Development workshops. (Dates to be finalized)
Feedback from Teachers attending OUASSA 2011
Would you please thank everyone involved in OUASSA? Speaking to both Andrew and Alexander who attended from Horowhenua College they said the programme was absolutely fantastic and they feel very lucky to be selected. The PD we got as teachers was really valuable and I feel much more confident in the aspects of Year 13 Biology that were covered. I hope you get a lot more teachers to the July programme for the students benefit. The course was very well organised and run and has provided me with some of the best PD I have had!
Teacher from Horowhenua College
I very much enjoyed the opportunity to obtain PD with OUASSA. I liked the hands-on practicals, which is what busy science teachers need. We get little opportunity to do this with colleagues. Implementing NOS is also an area that all science teachers need PD on, both in applying Nature of Science to lessons and using the Matrices for student assessment. The event was well run and managed and I would like to thank all those people who made this such an enjoyable and well run event.
